The Hardwood Lumber Company manufactures high quality wood Floating Stair Treads, also known as Thick Stair Treads, at affordable prices. Our Floating Stair Treads are milled with state-of-the-art equipment. Beech Floating Stair Treads are available in standard sizes or can be custom made to your specifications. Our Floating Stair Treads are also available in a large selection of other hardwood species. We offer 1/8” wooden end caps to conceal the edges of the treads that act as a continuation of the surface grain. They are offered in left, right, and double caps. We also offer five edge details to our Floating Stair Treads: square edge, eased edge 1/16'' radius, eased edge 1/8’’ radius, and eased edge 1/4” radius. We have a sizeable selection of texture options to make your Stair Treads unique and distressed. All our Floating Stair Treads can be ordered unfinished or prefinished with various finishing options. We can also stain your Floating Stair Treads with a standard stain color or apply a custom stain of your choice, using our stain match service. Beech Floating Stair Treads add a modern yet natural look into any home, highlighting the beautiful grain patterns of the wood. They are the perfect product for traditional staircases, floating stair cases, and open riser stair cases.
All Floating Stair Treads are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.
Our floating stair treads are made with random width planks, and are sanded and maintained perfectly on top and bottom as both sides may be visible.
Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown.
If you prefer to have your Floating Stair Tread sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.
Wire Brushed Texture works best on wood with an open grain, such as White Oak, Red Oak, and Ash. On other tighter grain wood species, the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.
Beech Floating Stair Treads ship within 2 to 3 weeks.

Hardwood Lumber Company wood stair parts are guaranteed for one year to be free from defects in material and workmanship. This warranty will not apply if damage is caused by misuse, abuse, or improper installation. Please note that the underside of stair parts may have knots or other natural imperfections which are not considered defects unless specifically noted otherwise. For prefinished stair parts, the warranty does not cover scuffs, scratches, or other damage to the finish that happens during installation or through normal wear and tear. The natural variations in wood grain and color are inherent characteristics and not defects.

Standard wood stair treads, Stair risers, and Winder stair treads ship in 1 to 2 weeks. Floating stair treads and landing treads ship in 2 to 3 weeks.

Small Item Shipping
Items under 70 lbs and 96 inches long ship via FedEx Ground or UPS Ground. You can select your preferred carrier at checkout.
Large Item Shipping (Freight)
Larger orders are shipped securely on a pallet via motor freight.
- Standard Delivery: With this option, you'll be responsible for unloading your order from the truck.
- Liftgate Service: For easier unloading, select this at checkout. The driver will lower the pallet to the ground. (Note: Typically for items up to 90" long. For items over 90" needing liftgate, please contact us).
- White Glove Delivery: For ultimate convenience with most larger items, choose White Glove Service at checkout. We'll deliver your order directly to your room of choice.
Receiving Damaged Items
Please inspect your order for any damage before signing the delivery receipt.
- Note Damage with Driver: If you see any damage, ensure the driver notes it on the delivery receipt prior to signing. This is very important.
- Significant Damage: If an item appears unusable due to severe damage, please refuse the delivery.
- Contact Us: In any case of damage or refusal, notify us immediately. We'll arrange a prompt replacement.
To maintain the beauty and longevity of your hardwood stair parts, including treads, risers, and railings, regular cleaning is key. Begin by sweeping or vacuuming the stairs thoroughly to remove loose dust and debris, starting from the top and working your way down. For a deeper clean, wipe down the wood surfaces with a soft cloth lightly dampened with water and a mild, wood-safe soap or an oil soap specifically designed for wood. Ensure you dry the wood promptly with a clean cloth. Don't forget to dust and wipe railings and balusters regularly to keep the entire staircase looking its best.
Beech
Beech sapwood is white with a red tinge, while the heartwood is light to dark reddish brown. Beech is generally straight-grained with a close uniform texture. Beech is classed as heavy, hard, strong, high in resistance to shock and good resistance to abrasive wear. We use only the higher quality grades of beech lumber for our products.
