We also offer the option for a custom sink cutout, stove cutout, and other custom cuts. All of our wood countertops are constructed with a waterproof and formaldehyde free glue. Hardwood Lumber Company end grain butcher block countertops are a great choice for kitchen islands. End grain butcher blocks will add warmth and beauty to any room in your home. Our end grain butcher block countertops are made from 1-1/2" square blocks with the end grain facing up. End grain butcher block is a great choice if you need a durable cutting surface. End grain butcher blocks will resist nicks and cut marks more then edge grain butcher block or face grain butcher block. Knife blades will stay sharp longer when using end grain butcher blocks as a cutting surface because of the unique way the blade cuts between wood fibers rather then cutting into the wood. Most of our woodworkers are craftsmen from the local Amish community, providing great attention to quality and detail throughout the manufacturing process.
All wood countertops are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.
If you prefer to have your countertop sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Textures Options.
Our Countertops are made with a good top surface and four good sides. This means the bottom surface might have imperfections. Selecting the High-Grade Bottom Surface option allows you to have the bottom surface be the same grade as the top surface and four sides.
Wire Brushed texture works best on wood with an open grain, such as White Oak, Red Oak, and Ash. On other tighter grain wood species the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.
Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown.
Hard Maple End Grain Butcher Block Countertops ship within 2 weeks, depending on your customization and finish selection.
Hard Maple
Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.
Soft Maple
In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
