Hard Maple Edge Grain Countertop Details
Hard maple is a very durable hardwood that can stand up to a lot of wear and tear. Although it’s similar in appearance to soft maple, it is much harder, as its name implies. Our maple butcher block is made with Hard Rock Maple. Solid wood strips go the full length of our butcher block countertops, giving them a better look and more durability than blended butcher blocks where short strips are joined together.
Please Note: Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown. All wood countertops are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.
Warranty Information: Please carefully read all warranty information, including installation instructions and timeframe.
Hard Maple Countertop Options
Hardwood Lumber Company specializes in manufacturing quality butcher block countertops and wood countertops. Maple butcher block countertops can be custom made to your specifications.
Sizing
We can make Maple Edge Grain Butcher Block Countertops up to 4-1/2" thick, 84" wide, and 162" long.
Finish
Finishing your countertop helps protect the wood from damage and it also keeps it looking beautiful and polished. Food-safe finishes like mineral oil allow you to prep food right on the surface of your butcher block. Choose your preferred finish option or have your countertop shipped unfinished if you would rather complete this step yourself.
Our Countertops are made with a good top surface and four good sides. This means the bottom surface might have imperfections. Selecting the High-Grade Bottom Surface option allows you to have the bottom surface be the same grade as the top surface and four sides.
Edge Detail and Texture
Wood is beautiful in its natural state, but we can also add a variety of decorative features, including edge detail and texture. Choose classic or modern styles to give your countertop a look that best suits your home. If you prefer to have your countertop sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.
Wire Brushed texture works best on wood with an open grain. On other tighter grain wood species, like Maple, the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.
Available Cuts and Countertop Prepping
We can apply various cuts and prepping to your wood countertops to aid you in the installation process. For example, we can leave a cutout for a stove or sink. Let us know what you need for your countertop.
Shipping Information
All wood countertops are custom made to order. Shipping may vary depending on your customization options. Please provide for a standard lead of 2 weeks for processing, milling, and shipping of countertop orders.
Hard Maple
Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.
Soft Maple
In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
