Premium Walnut Butcher Block Product Details
Our premium dark walnut butcher block countertops are made with 1" wide edge grain strips that go the full length of the countertop. This provides a better appearance and more durability than blended butcher blocks where short strips are joined together.
Most of our woodworkers are craftsmen from the local Amish community. We take great care with each and every product we make. Own a truly unique piece for your home with a premium black walnut heartwood countertop!
Please Note: Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown. All wood countertops are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.
Warranty Information: Please carefully read all warranty information, including installation instructions and timeframe.
About Our Premium Walnut
Hardwood Lumber’s Premium Walnut Countertops contain nearly 100% heartwood. This gives the piece an incredible feel to it that cannot be matched by any mixture of sap and heartwood. Heartwood is more resistant to decay and shrinkage than sapwood, and provides a rich, dark walnut color. The construction of a premium piece is rigid and strong because of its heartwood composition.

Premium Walnut Countertop Options
Choose Your Dimensions
We can make premium walnut edge grain butcher block countertops up to 4-1/2" thick, 84" wide and 138" long.
Select a Finish
Seal your countertop with a food-safe finish like mineral oil, epoxy, fractionated coconut oil, or various other options. If you prefer to leave it unfinished or do it yourself, we can also send your piece unfinished.
Our Countertops are made with a good top surface and four good sides. This means the bottom surface might have imperfections. Selecting the High-Grade Bottom Surface option allows you to have the bottom surface be the same grade as the top surface and four sides.
Customize the Look with Texture and Details
There are a variety of custom options that allow you to control the look of your countertop. You can select a texture, edge detail, and/or stain for the wood. We offer custom stain matching services if you want your countertop to match other wood pieces in your home. If you prefer to have your countertop sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.
Wire Brushed texture works best on wood with an open grain, such as Walnut. On other tighter grain wood species the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.
Specify Cuts or Prepping
We want to make it as easy as possible to install your new butcher block countertops. Just let us know what kind of angle cuts, CNC cuts, and/or joint prepping you need. We offer a variety of options, including cut outs for stoves and sinks.
All wood countertop sizes are custom made to order.
Butcher block countertops are also available in many other hardwood species. Edge grain butcher block countertops can also be made with mixed wood species.

Premium Walnut
The sapwood of walnut is creamy white, while the heartwood is light brown to dark chocolate brown, occasionally with a purplish cast and darker streaks. Walnut is generally straight-grained, but sometimes with wavy or curly grain that produces an attractive and decorative figure. Walnut works easily with hand and machine tools, and nails, screws and glues well. It holds paint and stain very well for an exceptional finish and is readily polished. Our Premium Walnut comprises nearly 100% heartwood, showcasing a rich, dark walnut color of premium quality. Its construction and feel are incredibly luxurious, enhancing the overall premium experience.
