We warrant our cutting boards for one year against defects in material and workmanship. To maintain this warranty, it's essential to care for your cutting board by re-seasoning it as needed, following the Hardwood Lumber Company Cutting Board Care and Maintenance Guide. The warranty does not extend to scuffs, scratches, or other finish damage on prefinished cutting boards that occur from installation or normal daily use. Your warranty will be void if the care guidelines are not followed, including the regular re-seasoning of boards finished with mineral oil (at least monthly, or more often if the board appears dry).

Keep your hardwood cutting board hygienic and in excellent condition with a consistent care routine. After each use, clean your board with warm water and mild dish soap, then rinse and dry it thoroughly by standing it on its edge. To keep the wood conditioned and prevent it from drying out or cracking, regularly apply a food-grade mineral oil or a specialized butcher block conditioner—we recommend doing this every 2-4 weeks, or whenever the board appears dry. For deodorizing, you can rub the surface with a cut lemon or a paste of baking soda and water, then rinse and dry. Never submerge your cutting board in water or clean it in a dishwasher, as this can cause warping or splitting.
Hard Maple
Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.
Soft Maple
In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
