African Mahogany Face Grain Cutting Board Details

African Mahogany varies in color. The heartwood ranges from pale pink to a deeper reddish brown, and it sometimes has streaks of medium to dark reddish brown. It tends to darken with age. African Mahogany is easy to work with and finish, making it an excellent choice for a cutting board.

Face Grain (Wide Plank) Construction

Face grain, or “wide plank”, construction involves showing the face of the lumber as opposed to the edge or end. This style of construction shows more of the surface grain pattern, with deeper, coarser grains less visible. This results in a more consistent appearance across the cutting board, with less contrast of grain patterns. All Wide Plank Cutting Boards are glued up from various planks of wood running the full length of the Cutting Board.

Please Note: Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown. All cutting boards are custom made to order. All orders revised or canceled after going into production (approximately 2 to 3 days after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.

Additional Features

Add these optional cutting features to your cutting board to make meal prep even easier.

  • Juice groove to catch drips
  • Feet for added stability
  • Finger Grips

Our Standard Wide Plank Cutting Boards have square corners and a ⅛” radius on all edges.

Cutting Board Care & Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan of your wood cutting board, proper care is important.

Upon receiving your order, it is recommended that you clean the board with a damp cloth, then apply another coat of Hardwood Lumber Company Butcher Block Oil or Butcher Block Conditioner before using your cutting board for the first time. A water-resistant glue is used on all of our Butcher Block Cutting Boards.

Most of our woodworkers are craftsmen from the local Amish community, providing great attention to quality and detail at every step throughout the manufacturing process.
