How Can I Customize My Cutting Board?

These cutting boards are based on our most popular options, and are a great choice for anyone. If you love one of our popular styles, but want to add your personal touch, shop All Cutting Boards and truly make it your own.

What Makes These Options So Popular?

We’ve been doing this for years. With all of that production comes plenty of feedback from our customers. We combined feedback and research to develop a collection with the options most commonly ordered. We did do a small amount of tweaking to streamline the options, making the collection easier to shop for everyone–regardless of their budget or cooking space.

What Styles of Cutting Boards Are Available?

We included each of our main cutting board styles in this collection. If you’re unfamiliar with butcher block or woodworking, some of these styles might be new for you. Here’s a quick breakdown of each:

End Grain

This is the traditional “butcher block” style. End grain cutting boards are built from numerous smaller wooden blocks glued vertically, so you’re essentially cutting onto the exposed ends of the wood fibers. Picture slicing onto the ends of tightly packed pencils—the fibers gently separate and then spring back, making this style extremely durable and gentle on knives.

Edge Grain

Edge grain cutting boards are made by gluing long, narrow strips of wood together on their edges—think of boards stacked side-by-side, showcasing their clean, straight lines running along the entire length. This gives a sleek, uniform look that's popular in many kitchens. They're solid, sturdy, and hold up well under everyday use, although they might show knife marks sooner than end grain. Thankfully, maintaining them is straightforward: regular oiling keeps them in great shape for years.

Face Grain

Face grain butcher blocks feature wider wooden boards laid flat and joined side-by-side, showing off the wood's natural, flowing grain patterns. This style is beautiful and offers a rustic, traditional appearance, highlighting the unique characteristics of the wood.

How Do I Take Care of My Cutting Board?

Wood cutting boards require some maintenance, but it’s straightforward and will help protect your investment. Here’s a quick overview:

Wash your cutting board after each use with soap and warm water, then immediately towel dry—never soak it or put it in the dishwasher.

Every few weeks, apply food-safe mineral oil or a butcher block conditioner to maintain moisture and protect the wood. Occasionally, use coarse salt and half a lemon to remove odors and stains, keeping your board fresh and clean.
