Any wood, live edge or otherwise, should be properly treated or finished. However, because live edge is often used as a surface for dining and other activities, it should always be finished.
Our live edge wood rounds are treated with epoxy resin to fill in naturally occurring cracks, knotholes, and other gaps. Then the slab is finished with acrylic polyurethane – this offers a satin smooth finish that retains the wood’s coloration and grain.
