Maple: A Classic Butcher Block Look with Premium Custom Flexibility
Maple is the classic butcher block choice for a reason: it looks clean, bright, and timeless. In the Signature Blended Grain layout, Maple keeps that familiar light hardwood appearance while gaining the custom movement and handcrafted character of a made-to-order blended top.
Its creamy color and smooth grain make Maple easy to design around. It can brighten a kitchen, give a bakery or prep area a traditional hardwood feel, or create a durable-looking desktop and work surface that feels crisp rather than rustic.
Each top is made from solid Maple hardwood using premium lumber selected for countertop production. The blended edge grain construction adds natural tone shifts and visual rhythm, but the overall look remains cleaner and more controlled than high-contrast species like Hickory or Walnut.
Order your Maple Signature top in the size, thickness, finish, edge profile, texture, cutouts, miter cuts, and joint-prep options your project needs. Sizes are available up to 84 inches deep by 192 inches long, with thicknesses from 1 inch to 3-1/2 inches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Maple is popular because of its light color, smooth grain, and classic butcher block appearance. It works in many kitchen and work surface designs.
How does blended Maple differ from standard Maple butcher block?
The blended layout uses random-length edge grain pieces to create more natural movement and a more custom look than a highly uniform panel.
Is this countertop made from solid Maple?
Yes. The countertop is made from solid Maple hardwood throughout.
Is Maple a good choice for a bright kitchen?
Yes. Maple is one of the best choices when you want a light, clean hardwood surface that helps keep the room feeling bright.
Can I order Maple in extra-thick sizes?
Yes. Thicknesses are available from 1 inch to 3-1/2 inches in 1/4-inch increments.
Can I add custom fabrication options?
Available options may include edge profiles, surface texture, sink and stove cutouts, miter cuts, joint prep, and professional finishing.
What if I want a bolder look than Maple?
If you want more dramatic contrast, consider Hickory, Walnut, Ash, or Sapele. Maple is best for a cleaner classic appearance.

To ensure your warranty remains valid, any unfinished countertops must be finished and installed within one week of delivery, and you must follow our Countertop Finishing and Installation Guide precisely. Natural wood characteristics, such as minor warping due to environmental changes (often correctable with proper installation) or variations in grain and color, are not considered defects. The warranty does not cover scuffs or scratches on prefinished countertops caused by installation or normal wear and tear. Specific conditions that will void the warranty include not adhering to the finishing and installation guide, failing to support overhangs greater than 10 inches, or not properly protecting cutouts for stoves (from heat) and sinks (from moisture). To keep your hardwood countertop looking its best and performing well for years to come, proper care is essential. If your countertop arrived unfinished, it's crucial to apply a food-safe finish to all surfaces (top, bottom, and all edges) within one week of delivery. For countertops finished with oil, re-apply a quality butcher block oil or conditioner approximately twice a month, or whenever the wood begins to look dry, to keep it hydrated and protected. Clean your countertop regularly with mild soap and warm water, wiping up spills promptly. For disinfection, a diluted white vinegar solution can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners and never let water stand on the surface for extended periods. For specialized finishes like Rubio Monocoat, use the recommended cleaning and maintenance products to preserve its unique properties.
Hard Maple
Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.
Soft Maple
In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
