Soft Maple Backsplash Details
Brighten your kitchen with the light, natural hues of a wooden backsplash made from soft maple. Every Hardwood Lumber backsplash is manufactured to your custom specifications. So, you’ll get exactly what you need to complete your kitchen renovation!
Soft maple is a general term for several species of maple, including:
-
Bigleaf maple (Acer macrophyllum)
-
Red maple (Acer rubrum)
-
Silver maple (Acer saccharinum)
These species of maple are spread throughout the U.S. Each species of soft maple has its own characteristics, but they generally do not differ much from one another. Woodworkers value soft maple for its workability and lighter density compared to hard maple.
Soft maple has a light, cream-colored wood grain that complements a range of kitchen types.
Please Note: Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown. All wood backsplashes are custom made for each order. All orders revised or canceled after going into production (within 24 hours after order is received) will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.
Warranty Information: Please carefully read all warranty information, including installation instructions and timeframe.
Fully Customize Your Maple Backsplash
We offer several ways to customize your backsplash. The customization process is simple: select from the available custom options in the menu above, including sizing, thickness, and finishing.
Sizing
Your maple backsplash can be custom milled to the dimensions needed for your kitchen. Choose from up to 24” depth, 162” long, and 1-½” thick.
Construction Style
Our backsplashes are constructed in two styles. Select from butcher block with the strips running the length of the backsplash or face grain.
Finish
For best results, wood backsplash should be finished. We can finish your backsplash for you and offer various food-safe finishing options like Mineral Oil and Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Edge Details and Texture
Edge details can enhance the appearance of your maple backsplash. Choose from three edge options, including ⅛” radius, ¼” radius, and beveled.
We also offer texture options as part of our finishing process. If you prefer to have your backsplash sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.
Wire Brushed Texture works best on wood with an open grain such as White Oak, Red Oak, and Ash. On close grain wood species, like maple, the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.
Shipping Information
All backsplashes are custom made to order. Shipping may vary depending on your customization options. Please provide for a standard lead of 1 to 3 weeks for processing, milling, and shipping of soft maple backsplash orders.
Note: Lead times may vary based on seasonal demand. Please contact our sales team online or by phone at 1-800-798-1269 for questions regarding current order lead times.
Hard Maple
Hard Maple sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Hard Maple has a close fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Hard Maple is hard and heavy with good strength properties, in particular its high resistance to abrasion and wear. We use only the higher quality grades of Hard Maple lumber for our products.
Soft Maple
In most respects soft maple is very similar to hard maple. Generally soft maple sapwood is greyish white. The heartwood varies from light to dark reddish brown. Soft Maple is usually straight-grained and has low shock resistance. Soft maple is about 25 percent less hard than hard maple. The soft maple we use for our products is selected for a white color. We use only the higher quality grades of Soft Maple lumber for our products.
