The Hardwood Lumber Company manufactures high quality textured retrofit stair treads at affordable prices. You will be very happy with the quality of our Textured Ash Retrofit Stair Treads. Textured Retro-fit Stair Treads, also known as Textured Retreads, are made to fit over your existing stairs. Our textured retrofit stair treads are milled with new state-of-the-art equipment. Our standard Textured Retrofit Stair Treads are 3/4" thick with an overhang on the front edge measuring 1" thick x 1-1/4" deep. The depth selected will include the overall depth, including the 1-1/4" of the overhang. We can make Ash Textured Retro-Fit Stair Treads up to 1-1/2" thick, 18" deep, and 120" in length. Textured retrofit stair treads are also available in almost any other hardwood species. We offer four texture options on our retrofit stair treads, including hand-scraped, wire brushed, sawcut, and distressed. All our wood stair parts, including textured retrofit stair treads and risers, can be ordered unfinished or prefinished with a Tread Coat Varnish. A very durable two-component, commercial grade conversion varnish, specifically made for high traffic areas. We can also stain your textured wood stair treads and risers with a standard stain color or apply a custom stain of your choice, using our stain match service. Choose from our standard sizes or contact us for a custom wood stair tread quote. Textured Retro-Fit Stair Treads over 48" long may be slightly oversized with uneven ends.

All textured retro fit stair treads are custom made-to-order. Any orders revised or cancelled after going into production, (approximately 2 to 3 days after order is received), will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.

We can make textured retrofit stair treads with a left or right hand return. Or we can make them with a double end return to any length. Each return is 1-1/4" wide and extends 1-1/2" past back side of the tread. A left or right hand return is determined by standing at the bottom of the stairs looking up. All sizes are overall, including the return(s). For example, a single return 36" tread will have a 34-3/4" throat size, a double return 48" tread will have a 45-1/2" throat size.

Our Textured Retro-Fit Stair Treads are sanded and maintained perfectly on top, while the bottom is left in a potentially rough state, untouched, because when installed it will never be visible.

Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown.

If you prefer to have your stair tread sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.

Wire Brushed Texture works best on wood with an open grain, such as White Oak, Red Oak and Ash. On other tighter grain wood species the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.

Ash Textured Retro-Fit Stair Treads ship within 3-4 weeks.

Ash sapwood is light-colored to nearly white and the heartwood varies from greyish or light brown, to pale yellow streaked with brown. Ash is generally straight-grained with a coarse uniform texture. Ash machines well, is good in nailing, screwing and gluing, and can be stained to a very good finish. Ash has very good overall strength properties relative to its weight and has excellent shock resistance. We use only the higher quality grades of Ash lumber for our products.
