The Hardwood Lumber Company manufactures high quality Wood Stair Treads and Stair Risers at affordable prices. You will be very happy with the quality of our Rift & Quartered Red Oak Stair Risers. All our Stair Treads and Risers are milled with new, state-of-the-art equipment. Rift & Quartered Red Oak Stair Risers are available in standard sizes or can be custom made to your specifications. Stair Treads and Risers are also available in almost any other hardwood species. We offer various texture options on all our Wood Stair Treads and Risers, including hand-scraped, wire brushed, sawcut, and distressed. All our Wood Stair Parts, including Wood Stair Treads and Risers, can be ordered unfinished or prefinished with Tread Coat Varnish, a very durable two-component, commercial grade conversion varnish, specifically made for high traffic areas. We can also stain your Wood Stair Treads and Risers with a standard stain color or apply a custom stain of your choice, using our stain match service. Choose from our standard sizes or contact us for a custom Wood Stair Riser quote. Stair Treads and Risers over 48" long may be slightly oversized with uneven ends.

All Stair Risers are custom made to order. All orders revised or cancelled after going into production, (approximately 2 to 3 days after order is received), will have a restocking fee of up to 50%.

Our Standard Wood Stair Risers are 3/4" thick x 8" tall.

Our Stair Risers are sanded and maintained perfectly on top, while the bottom is left in a potentially rough state, untouched, because once installed it will never be visible.

Our Standard Stair Treads and Risers are made with a two to three piece glue up.

Because each piece of wood has its own unique character, grain and color will vary from the sample images shown.

If you prefer to have your stair riser sanded smooth and have no texture, be sure to select NONE in the Texture Options.

Wire Brushed Texture works best on wood with an open grain, such as White Oak, Red Oak, and Ash. On other tighter grain wood species, the Wire Brushed Texture will not have the same effect and will not be as visible.

Unfinished Rift & Quartered Red Oak Stair Risers ship within three weeks, prefinished Rift & Quartered Red Oak Stair Risers have a production time up to four weeks.

Quarter Sawn Red Oak

Quarter sawn red oak displays dramatic medullar figure called flake or fleck. The sapwood of red oak is white to light brown and the heartwood is a pinkish reddish brown. Red oak is similar in general appearance to white oak, but with a slightly less pronounced figure due to the smaller rays. Red oak is mostly straight-grained, with a coarse texture. Quarter sawn red oak can be stained with a wide range of finish tones and has great wear-resistance. We use only the higher quality grades of quarter sawn red oak lumber for our products.
